Why We Do It
For the love of building
Minnesota Chimney was incorporated in 2018, but we’ve been working as builders and tinkerers from our earliest years. Though our backgrounds vary, we’ve always delighted in taking things apart, marveling at how they work, and building back better and more beautifully. Minnesota Chimney is the culmination of our collective building aspirations and the pinnacle of our expertise.
As licensed residential builders, we adhere to strict guidelines set forth by the International Residential Code (IRC), the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Project Managers
Ben Saxton
Ben is the proud father of a 4-year-old boy, who he lives with in Albertville. He’s a devoted family man and self-described “workaholic.” Ben started in the trades at 18 as an asbestos remediation contractor and mastered several additional trades—including commercial HVAC cleaning, mold remediation, and lead abatement—before finding the perfect home in chimney and fireplace installation and repair. Insatiably curious, Ben thrives on finding the quickest and most effective solution for any given problem. A born troubleshooter, managing the day-to-day operations of the company provides plenty of opportunity for him to test his mettle.
Tyler Tall
Tyler lives with his family in Shoreview. He learned from his father at a young age how to work with his hands—tinkering with bicycles, then dirt bikes, to cars over the years, culminating in the full rebuild of an Audi B6 S4. Tyler’s precision and skill in putting things together translates into superior workmanship in the field. When he’s not building chimneys, he enjoys extreme sports, including BMX, snowboarding, snowmobiling, dirt-biking, and drift car racing.
Corey Koebernick
Corey lives in Annandale with his girlfriend and their 3 children and 2 dogs. He grew up “wrenching on stuff” ever since he can remember, taking on myriad improvement projects in their family home. He took apart and put back together anything he could get his hands on, including vehicles. As a gifted artist as well, Corey found the perfect marriage of workmanship and artistry in crafting exquisite chimneys and fireplaces.
Liam VonGrey
Liam lives with his family in Shoreview. A “student of the world,” he was born outside of the US, traveled throughout South America in his youth, and studied in several European nations during college, developing an appreciation of diverse cultures and an affinity for unique foods. A favorite pastime is negotiating deals for cars, fixing them up, and cycling through them—always looking toward the next project. His B.A. in Communications from Bethel serves him well, as he frequently visits customers to gauge their needs and help them select the perfect appliance for their project.
